Reception Site Woes- Northern California Wedding, Amber and Will

Over the last few weeks, I have been trying to get somebody to meet me at our reception venue so that we could check it out post-renovation. I needed some measurements and some reinforcement of my mental map that I’ve created.

Unfortunately, every time I’ve tried, there has been some pressing issue that whomever I was talking with could not get around. “Sorry, the chili cookoff and car show are this weekend.” Or, “Sorry, the contractor still has the keys.”

I understand. It’s okay. There are other schedules beyond the one my wedding
is fitting into.

But here’s the thing, this remodel is supposed to be done. When my mom and I
decided to make a trip up to the hotel this week, we decided to sneak on over
to the building and see what we could see through the windows.

We lucked out and we were able to get in… but this is what we saw.

Not exactly what I was hoping for.

I would not call this finished…

This is where I confess to being a little stressed out about this part of planning our wedding. The reception venue is kind of a major component and at the moment, I don’t have a back up plan.

A tent would totally blow our budget out of the water, as would using the hotel banquet room (not that its big enough). So for the moment, I get to be a squeaky wheel.

I will call people in charge of the building in hopes that they start breathing down the neck of the contractor, and then really hope he gets the hall done in time for my wedding reception.
