I am sooooo excited to introduce Amber. Fancy Pants Wedding’s first Northern California real bride blogger. I just fell in love with Amber and Will after reading their story and I am sure you will too.
We will be following their wedding planning journey from start to finish. Amber and Will have a lot of details to put together for their October wedding in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra, Sutter Creek, Ca. and we are going to have a front row seat. Let’s get to know them:
Let me start by saying that I am a regular bride.
Engaged on the beach in Costa Rica
I want my wedding to be beautiful and a fabulous time for all our guests. I want it to be unique and yet contain the classic feeling of a wedding. I want to believe that I might remember every detail 50 years from now and I want my husband (soon enough!) to look at me and think I’m more beautiful on that day than he has ever seen me. The problem is… that is soooo ordinary… and we are not. Just like you are not. Lets face it, we are all getting married because we found that someone special. And just like you, I have been scouring the internet, wedding magazines, and our bookshelves full of knick-knacks looking for ideas that represent us.

In our case, we are Will and Amber. Will, my mountain biking-Costa Rican born-always laughing-sucker for cute dogs-United States Marine Corps Veteran-fiancée. Me, the snowboarding-book hoarding-sunshine seeking-experimental chef-firefighter. He grew up in the bay area amid the hustle and bustle of city life. I grew up in Amador County where slow and easy country life is the norm. His parents own a salon, are hairstylists, and raised him listening to the latest 80’s hits. My mom is a teacher, my dad a chiropractor, and my brother and I were raised to a soundtrack of classic rock-and-roll. Our style is… eclectic, but it works. We know we are getting married in the Sierra foothills, where I grew up, in October of this year. Beyond that, we are in the very early stages of planning.
Our favorite project so far, that not only got the stamp of approval from both of us, but his best friend and my mom as well, is our save-the-date. A&W Root Beer has always been a little inside love symbol for Will and I. A little reminder of each other whenever we come across it. With that in mind, a little Photoshop, and a few personal touches later, we have a save-the-date that is uniquely ours. Not too formal, a little bit fun, and not your regular wedding stationary. We plan to carry the root beer theme through to our reception and have root beer floats as part of our dessert bar.
I’m looking forward to sharing more of our wedding plans with you along the way. Perhaps you will find something among my ideas that will inspire something for your wedding that is uniquely you.

Judy – this is very fun; I’ll enjoy reading Amber’s entries (and maybe from Will, too?) And, if it gets too crazy, consider an experienced wedding planner (oh, Judy, can I plug myself?)
Yay! I can’t wait to read about Amber and Will’s journey! Great idea to have guest bloggers going through the process.
