Picking an inspiration or theme for our wedding is probably something I should have done a few months ago when we first started planning. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t decide. There wasn’t much out there that really encompassed the feel of our entire day. I would find flowers I like at one kind of wedding, table décor at another, and invitations from another.

I’ve had a lot of people say to me, “You don’t need a theme.” But the reality is, there is so much out there that I need a general theme so can I focus on ideas and inspiration that fit within that category. Why limit myself? Because I like so much! There are some exceptionally creative individuals out there sharing tons of ingenious ideas and I just don’t have the time or the resources to implement them all.

This weekend, while shuttling Will and some of his friends on a mountain bike ride (my mountain bike and I are no longer friends after multiple wipeouts and road rash inducing crashes), I had quite a bit of time to try and sort through my ideas and give them a “label” of sorts. This is what I have come up with:
I love the floral décor of English Garden weddings, minus the roses.
I love the vintage style of Great Gatsby inspired weddings. (One of my favorite books of all time).

And now, the wild card. I love the detailed geometric feel and asymmetry of Steampunk influences. The attire is not my cup of tea, but for stationary and some décor influences it’s quirk absolutely perfect.
