This concept shoot is brought to us by a group of extremely talented Sacramento Wedding Professionals. Inspired by the Alice in Wonderland movie release they decided to start their 2010 Northern California wedding season off by jump starting their creativity and putting together visual feast for all of us to enjoy.
Gorgeous Gold chivari chairs, rented from Classic Party Rentals wrapped in ice blue tulle anchored by Luxecuts chair placards were the perfect touch of whimsy and elegance against the rough hewn farm table. The table was lavishly decorated with woodsy themed flowers and unique antique touches. I can just imagine Alice wandering down the path and finding herself invited to tea at this delightful table.
Be Inspired: Tulle chair ties are a quick and inexpensive way to add a bit of whimsy to your reception chairs. Tie tulle, in fabric width, into a sleek knot and let the ends trail to just above the floor (not too long or they could prove to be a tripping hazard). Please no dated looking fluffy tulle bows! Use tulle in a color from your wedding palette, not just white or ivory, to add a bit of the unexpected.
Place cards by Luxecuts were delightfully unexpected in black lucite. Antique tea cups held live pansy plants. The pansies were a nod to the Disney “Alice in Wonderland” classic animated movie.
Be Inspired: For a vintage themed wedding or event collect tea cups from family members, antique shops and tag sales to use in table decor. Have your florist fill the cups with flowers that match your decor and use them on accent tables or as part of a composite centerpiece.
Antique glass bottles held simple clusters of old-fashioned flowers.
Be Inspired: Use a length of fabric width black tulle and a statement brooch to make a delightful accent at the waist. Use an ivory or white sash for the ceremony and switch out to a colored sash for the reception.
Alice’s bouquet was designed by Flourish with vintage and new jewelry, “Juliette” garden roses, “Ocean Song” roses, hyacinth blossoms, and dusty miller
The dessert table by Sugar and Spice featured an array of delicious and uniquely themed tid-bits. Display stands, cake plates, trophies and even a miniature brass top hat were brought in by Kate Miller Events. The desserts all centered around the central theme of Alice in Wonderland with a dizzying array of variety, including, Tweedle Mallows White Rose Truffles, Royal Suit Linzer Cookies, Down The Rabbit Hole Cupcakes, and Three of Hearts Chocolate Pretzels.
Be Inspired: If the traditional wedding cake is not your thing a dessert table featuring bite sized treats is oh so chic.
Alice’s make-up by Nicole Solarez was kept innocent looking with long lashes and rosy cheeks but a full and dramatic lip.
Be Inspired: Use a pale lip color for the ceremony and portraits. When it is time to bring the drama switch to a deeper and more vibrant lip color for the reception.
After a quick gown change Alice was brought out into a field of wild flowers for a dreamy photo shoot with Sarah Maren Photography Water color hues, wide open spaces and soft lighting accentuate the dream like state of Wonderland.
Be Inspired: Many photographers are starting to offer “after the day” shoots (Sarah does). Because the wedding day doesn’t allow for a lot of time, after the day shoots give the couple and photographer a chance to capture some more dramatic and fun portraits. Of course there is the added bonus of getting a chance to wear your wedding gown again!
Thank you to the wonderful Sacramento wedding professionals for providing the images from their fabulous concept shoot!
